Gardens, Workshops and Quiltlettes!
Our WRI enjoyed a lovely afternoon out to visit Lanercost garden in Carmunnock near Glasgow. John Kinloch, the owner, showed us round.
The first two photos are just part of a wonderful display----through to his delightful Japanese garden and a rhododendron which just glowed!
I took lots of other photos too many to post here!
He provided the most delicious afternoon tea with his own home-baking---pancakes, shortbread, and feather-light chocolate and lemon iced sponges made with the eggs from his lovely collection of bantam hens....all made by the man himself..............!!!!! Any money he makes from showing his garden and the sale of cards of photos of the garden all goes to The McMillan cancer nurses charity.
The little orange/purple quilt above is the fruit of another workshop at Greenwater Farm. Again Andrea and Janice guided us through fusing/painting and stamping with great ideas on embellishing with beads.
The other little quiltlette on the top right is the June Calendar quilt for the BQL Challenge----my inspiration for the fabric/colour choice is our herbaceous border with a wonderful bright pink climbing rose clothing the fence behind it. Nice idea of Kandy's with the fabric twist in the centre.
A lot of recent time has been taken up with filling hanging baskets and tubs in the garden and also enjoying a brief spell of glorious hot weather last weekend.......now seems to have gone and the temperature has dropped about 15 degrees and there has been enough snow on the mountain tops in the Cairngorms to ski and build snowmen!!
I do hope the warmth returns as I do want to dye some more fabric and that needs some warmth to do it outside!
