Goodness where has the time gone recently?It is three weeks since I last posted as someone kindly (!) reminded me.
I have been working on my piece for the WRI show and have finished all the "flat" areas and I am now working on the detached elements, snowdrop outer petals, pansy outer petals and iris outer petals.
There will also be a type of dragonfly in the centre and in the bottom left a pomegranate which is associated with Persephone who is also associated with Spring. The "S" I have trapuntoed and outlined in gold.
Saturday was spent at a "Mixed Media" class which was very enjoyable. We made some fabric for a small wall hanging with polycotton as a base and pieces of thin patterned paper napkins pasted on with PVA. We the embellished with all sorts of goodies-------stamps, foil, and a centre piece of FMQ using felt covered with a sheer fabric. I didn't quite get it finished but once I get around to it I will post a photo. It was great being able to practice the kind of FMQ that Diane Gaudynski does.
I have also been asked to contribute more to the WRI show in the shape of an invitation to a Carnival which is one of the classes!
Last evening was an enjoyable Scottish evening at the WI when we had a truncated version of a Burns supper where we were entertained by a great "Immortal Memory" and recitations of his poetry by some of the gentlemen of the village. As well as a small portion of Haggis,bashed neeps and champit tatties------------if any readers wish a translation do ask !!
In spite of frost and occasional snow showers which don't last very long it is good to see some spring bulbs at last appearing in the garden----a promise of warmth to come and a help to banish some of the depressing news we are fed daily on radio and TV.
